Hostess No More

It seemed like such a strange day when Hostess announced their bankruptcy struggle. And while i haven't had a hostess product in quite some time, i never wanted one more than that same day. Turns out that everyone had the same nostalgic sugar craving as well as store shelves sat barren. I was able to score a cupcake and a zinger and was completely satisfied. The future of the company may be uncertain but one thing is for sure. We must never forget. In honor of Hostess i made buttons!

a dollar door knocker transformed

Halloween is always on my brain and to my delight i've started to notice stores putting out halloween items already. Usually its just a bunch of junk but with a little paint and a dash of imagination you can transform crap into frightful treasures. This is the result of my latest transformation...

Zombie Head Repaint

So i ordered this office supply zombie head a while ago and when i opened the box i was so excited and sad at the same time. Excited because seriously its so awesome and sad because the paint job on it was the worst! I'm talking worse than the online picture of it. False advertising for sure. Its missing eye is magnetic and where you put paper clips. Its holes on the head are where pens and pencils go. Its teeth slide out and can hold a small post it note pad. And there is a slit in the back where envelopes go. See...Awesome!

Anyway, its been chillin' at my desk at work for a while now and everyday i see it i get bugged by its paint job. So i decided to repaint it myself. I'm totally happy with the results. I went for a more cartoony green flesh purple lips look. I love it!

Alisa's 40th Birthday Party!

This tuesday is my sister Alisa's 40th Birthday! Her husband Brian contacted me way in advance to help him plan a surprise party. I was in charge of the decor, Gina was in charge of the game, and my Mom was in charge of the treats with help from my other siblings. It was not easy to keep this all a surprise but i think we pulled it off wonderfully. She looked totally shocked!

I made the Happy Birthday banner a while ago and it set the tone for color schemes and the rest of the decor. I loved how it turned out.
I used the scraps from the banner to create the circle garland. I had my friend Emily from work sew them. I once saw on pinterest someone who had made a collage of photos to form a 50 on the wall. I loved the idea and decided to make one as well. I color treated the photos and added white borders to them for cohesiveness. I loved how this turned out as well. So fun to see my sister through all the ages of her life. She is a wonderful person, a great mom, and excellent sister. Happy Birthday Alisa!

Blog Introduction

Okay, so i have been wanting to start a blog for a while now. Not that i have much to say, but more that i want to document some things i've been doing or experiencing. Sort of a journal you might say. Anyway, i can only imagine what sort of things i might find interesting to post here. Probably lots of Halloween related things but i probably won't be able resist posting something delicious i ate or a critique of a movie. So here goes nothing.
