Wicked Witch Makeup

This year we settled on doing this witch makeup. I think it turned out pretty good. She's mean and green and has quite the snarl and hairy warts. Her eyes are dead as if she's ready to cast a spell on you. One can only wonder how many children she's ate.

 Mummy Makeup

We finally got around to doing a makeup this halloween season. We usually start by searching the internet for inspiration. Mainly pins on Pinterest. We came across this one that we loved. We loved the cartoon style and the bright colors. I had some wigs I got and we knew this would be a fun one. We were short on time but it came together pretty quickly.

Beauty and the Beast Makeup

Gina came over and we looked up different makeup ideas on Pinterest and found one for half beauty and half beast. We loved the idea and so we tried it out. We are pretty happy with the results. It was such a fun to do. We even turned on a live Instagram video and a few people watch the process which was cool to do.

Spider Face Makeup

Didn't get around to doing too many face paints this year but here is one that turned out great! I hate spiders so I'm surprised I was even able to paint this. The trick here is to get the shadows to look right. That way the spiders look like they are 3D.

Kratos God of War Face Makeup

I've been wanting to do a face paint on myself of Kratos the God of War. I just needed my beard to grow longer. For those that don't know, Kratos is the main character in the God of War video games for PlayStation by Santa Monica Studios. They are some of my very favorite games and I just love the look of Kratos, especially in the latest game set in Norse country. I feel like I capture the face pretty well. His body however I'm not even close. The trickiest part was to contour my nose to look more like his. I extended my nostrils and shadowed and highlighted the rest to resemble his. Here is my final look with a little enhancing in photoshop.

And here is my reference image.

And here I am with just an iPhone camera.

Social Media Face Makeup

What lies beyond the 3 inch square is not always posted. At times we may face feelings of heartache, failure, rejection, anxiety, depression... be careful not to compare your behind the scenes to someone’s highlight reel. Comparison is the thief of all joy. There’s more than meets the eye.

Makeup by Mason Barton. Inspired by simple.symphony. After seeing this image we couldn’t wait to recreate. I believe it portrays a reminder we could all use. Peoples lives on social media are not perfect and we must remember we all face challenges people may not even know about, so be kind always.

Old Man Makeup

Someone asked me to do an old man makeup on their teenage son. So I felt like i needed to practice. I tried a few things that didn't work before I settled with this look. I really like how it turned out. Only did half of my face.

Skeleton Bandana Makeup

We've been seeing a lot of neon and glow in the dark face makeup lately and so we wanted to try it too. We decided on this one. A sort of biker skeleton bandana look. It looked so cool in black light but also in regular light. I'm excited to try more with neon and black light paints.

Upside-down Face Makeup

I look forward every year to doing more face makeup from ideas i've seen on instagram and the internet. My sister Gina and I were looking for one to do last night and came across a few of these upside down face ideas. I thought it would be fun to try. It took a lot longer than expected because the nose and lips have to be just right or it looks terrible. In the end it turned out pretty cool and trippy.

Here is one upside down:

Cyborg Face Makeup

This was a halloween morning makeup on my sister. It was my first time using a metallic silver pigment from Mehron. It looked so good shimmering in the light. Very terminator, robot, cyborg kind of look. Excited to try that makeup again.

Day of the Dead - Dia de los Muertos Makeup

Another makeup experiment on my sister Gina. We usually find a reference for exactly what we want to do but this time we used a few ideas. Turned out pretty good.

Ice Cream Makeup

I usually get a jump on the Halloween season by doing some fun makeup but this year has been busy so this one is mid October. Oh well. Turned out great. The trick was to get the cone to stay on the head. We used spirit gum and rubber cement and tape. Haha.
