Nightmare Before Christmas Matching Shirts

I recently went to the Oogie Boogie Halloween Party at Disneyland and wanted matching shirts to wear for me and my boyfriend. I love Nightmare before Christmas so of course I had to do Jack Skellington. I just got black t-shirts and used a stencil I cut from my silhouette machine. Then I just used bleach. They came out awesome! I would just caution to not use too much bleach or it will eat holes in the shirt. I ended up doing a painted version.

Wicked Witch Makeup

This year we settled on doing this witch makeup. I think it turned out pretty good. She's mean and green and has quite the snarl and hairy warts. Her eyes are dead as if she's ready to cast a spell on you. One can only wonder how many children she's ate.

 Mummy Makeup

We finally got around to doing a makeup this halloween season. We usually start by searching the internet for inspiration. Mainly pins on Pinterest. We came across this one that we loved. We loved the cartoon style and the bright colors. I had some wigs I got and we knew this would be a fun one. We were short on time but it came together pretty quickly.

Vampire Silhouette T-shirt

I saw this vampire design online somewhere but they were sold out. So I decided to make my own. I modified the image slightly and made some adjustments. Mainly his body in a more creeping stance and his arms too. I really love him. I decided to turn them into T-shirts. I cut out a stencil on my vinyl cutting machine and then just used acrylic paint to fill it in. Then I've always wanted to do a bleach design and thought this might be a good opportunity. So I went for it. I love how it turned out.

Beauty and the Beast Makeup

Gina came over and we looked up different makeup ideas on Pinterest and found one for half beauty and half beast. We loved the idea and so we tried it out. We are pretty happy with the results. It was such a fun to do. We even turned on a live Instagram video and a few people watch the process which was cool to do.

Kratos God of War Face Makeup

I've been wanting to do a face paint on myself of Kratos the God of War. I just needed my beard to grow longer. For those that don't know, Kratos is the main character in the God of War video games for PlayStation by Santa Monica Studios. They are some of my very favorite games and I just love the look of Kratos, especially in the latest game set in Norse country. I feel like I capture the face pretty well. His body however I'm not even close. The trickiest part was to contour my nose to look more like his. I extended my nostrils and shadowed and highlighted the rest to resemble his. Here is my final look with a little enhancing in photoshop.

And here is my reference image.

And here I am with just an iPhone camera.

Old Man Makeup

Someone asked me to do an old man makeup on their teenage son. So I felt like i needed to practice. I tried a few things that didn't work before I settled with this look. I really like how it turned out. Only did half of my face.

Skeleton Bandana Makeup

We've been seeing a lot of neon and glow in the dark face makeup lately and so we wanted to try it too. We decided on this one. A sort of biker skeleton bandana look. It looked so cool in black light but also in regular light. I'm excited to try more with neon and black light paints.

Upside-down Face Makeup

I look forward every year to doing more face makeup from ideas i've seen on instagram and the internet. My sister Gina and I were looking for one to do last night and came across a few of these upside down face ideas. I thought it would be fun to try. It took a lot longer than expected because the nose and lips have to be just right or it looks terrible. In the end it turned out pretty cool and trippy.

Here is one upside down:

Cyborg Face Makeup

This was a halloween morning makeup on my sister. It was my first time using a metallic silver pigment from Mehron. It looked so good shimmering in the light. Very terminator, robot, cyborg kind of look. Excited to try that makeup again.

Disney Pixar Up Costume in NYC!

So a few weeks ago I got an email that looked like spam to me. But hesitant to delete it, i read a few lines and discovered it wasn't spam at all. It was an email from these guys in NYC. They were interested in my Carl Fredricksen costume for a film they wanted to make. They told me they had a drone and some other cool camera equipment so I was interested immediately in their project.

We soon got on the phone with each other and discussed the details. Next thing I knew, I was packing up Carl and shipping him away for another adventure. Last time he traveled he went to Florida. So it turns out that Mr. Fredricksen is living the life that he portrayed in the movie after all. Seeing and doing and exploring.

That was the purpose of the video these guys made. To spread positivity and happiness and put a smile on those who view it. So take a look, share with your friends and spread this message. Follow them on social media and subscribe to their youtube page. Info below. My info is in orange.

Little Shop of Horrors Halloween Group Costume

Ok, so i've wanted to make the Audrey II plant from Little Shop of Horrors for a long time now. This was the year! It turned out great. My coworker Bob has been told he looks like Rick Moranis so he volunteered to be Seymour while his wife April got in to character as Audrey (complete with a black eye). My favorite character is the dentist from the movie so I made the laughing gas contraption and there you have it. A group costume. They all turned out great! You got to see the plant in motion. Check out my blog post about it here.

Sea Goddess Makeup

This makeup was a lot of fun. It shimmered and shined in the light. Her costume was complete with tribal tattoos and mermaid leggings and a triton staff. Amazing!

skeleton face makeup

Ok, here is another friend I did a skeleton face makeup on. I love how it turned out.

Day of the Dead Makeup - Teal color

I had a lot of fun doing my friends makeup last week. Day of the dead is such a fun theme to do because you can change your colors and patterns and add jewels and flowers etc.

Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors

Here is the YouTube to see how it was made:

Making this plant from Little Shop of Horrors has been on my list for a while now. I love how it turned out. The video shows sort of my process. Obviously should have taken more pictures to better describe but hopefully it gives you the idea. Go make one!

UPDATE!!!  Many of you have asked some great questions on my YouTube tutorial of this. When I was building it, I never intended to make a step by step video. But turns out many of you want to make your own and now I wish I gave you better details of my process. I've tried to answer your questions but I think some more pictures might be even better. So I'll post them here and hopefully that helps. Basically, I didn't know what I was doing and solved my problems on the fly. My advice is get started and you'll likely do the same. But I hope this helps. Have fun!
